Map Builder

IMPORTANT

Map Builder is not enabled by default. To enable Map Builder, contact your Client Account Manager.

The Map Builder feature allows admins to create detailed, interactive maps for events, making it easier for attendees to find exhibitor areas, access additional information, and interact with event spaces through the app.

Creating a map

  1. In the Admin Panel, click Map Builder.

NOTE

Admins may need to log in to the Map Builder console. Use your Clowder admin credentials. If your credentials do not work, contact your Client Account Manager.

  1. On the Layouts page, click the Create New Layout button.
  2. Select the desired event from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click Choose an Image to upload an image of the map. This image will serve as the base for your map, where you can later draw areas for exhibitors.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Add a Layout Name to identify the map.
  6. Select Create. This saves the map so you can start working on it.

Adding elements to the map

On the toolbar, admins can insert the following elements to customize maps:

  • Shapes: Rectangles and circles
  • Text
  • Images (for example, logos or icons)

To add an element:

  1. Click on the desired option from the toolbar.
  2. Highlight the desired area on the map by clicking and dragging.
  3. After placing the element, customize it using the editing panel.

Using the editing panel

The editing panel allows admins to customize the selected elements (shapes, text, and images) on your map. The options include:

Width and HeightAdjusts the dimensions of the element.Values are in pixels.
Position X and Position YDefines the exact coordinates of the element on the map.Position X is for horizontal position, and Position Y is for vertical.
RotationRotates the element to a specific angle.Values are in degrees.
Layer OrderDetermines which elements, when stacked, appear in front of the others.You have two options:
  • Send Back: Sends the element (for example, Rectangle) behind another element (for example, Image).
  • Bring Front: Brings the element (for example, Text) in front of another element (for example, Rectangle).
CloneReplicates the element.

  • You can choose the area, relative to the original, where the clone appears.

  • You can specify a Gap between the clone and the original.

  • Use this option to quickly replicate images, shapes, and texts without creating duplicates from scratch.

IMAGE AND SHAPES
Scale X and Scale YDefines a horizontal (X) and vertical (Y) scale for the element.
Force 1:1 RatioResizes the element into a square frame.
Fill ColorSelects the element's main color scheme.Enter RGB values for the desired color or use the color picker.
SHAPES
Stroke WidthSets the border thickness around the shape.Set the value to zero if you do not want borders.
Stroke ColorSets the border color around the shape.Enter RGB values for the desired color or use the color picker.
IMAGE
Image SourceLets you choose the image to display within the placeholder.Scroll to the bottom of the image editing panel to find Image Source.
TEXT
Text ColorSelects the text's main color scheme.Enter RGB values for the desired color or use the color picker.
ContentSpecifies content to appear in the text box.
Font sizeSpecifies the text's font sizeSettings do not apply globally. Font size must be set for individual text elements.
H AlignSets the text's horizontal alignment within the textbox.Options: Left, Center, Right
V AlignSets the text's vertical alignment within the textbox.Options: Top, Middle, Bottom

Saving the map

Once you create the map, click the Save button. You get these options:

  • Preview: Shows you what the map looks like.
  • Save: Saves your progress on the map as you continue editing.
  • Save & Close: Saves the map and exits the editing mode.

You can find, edit, preview, download, or delete your maps on the Layouts page.

Adding a map to an event

To add a map to an event, you must add a map action button to the app and enable the map feature.

To add the map action button in the app:

  1. In the Admin Panel, go to Events > Events.

  2. Find the event associated with the map you created, then click the View button.

  3. Click Add Action Button under Additional Info.

  4. On the Add an Action Button page, modify the following settings:

    1. Action Type: Set to Map.
    2. Action Name: Specify a descriptive name for the map (for example, Event Map). Users can see this name in the app.
    3. Action Status: Set to Active.
    4. Position: If you have multiple action buttons, specify where you want the map to appear. 1 appears at the top; 5 appears last.

  5. Click the Save button.


Now, do the following to enable the map:

  1. On the desired event's details page, click Edit Event.

  2. On the right panel, scroll to Event Map Type.

  3. From the dropdown menu, select Map Builder.

  4. Click Save to apply the changes.


The map displays in the app under the Additional Info section for the target event.
