Understanding the Learning Activity types

When creating a new Learning Activity, the following options are available:

  • Online Activity - A type of virtual class. It includes students, instructors, and online course materials. A user can be enrolled in any number of activities/classes as either a student or an instructor, and online course material can be assigned to any number of classes. Online activities provide the medium through which student users access online course material.
  • Instructor Led Activity (ILT) - ILT activities can be live classroom-based training events or virtual events. During an ILT activity, an instructor works through training material with students, or a speaker/ facilitator presents information. When you create an ILT activity, you provide details about the event and then schedule sessions with specific locations, instructors, and times.
  • Virtual Instructor Led Activity (ILT) - Virtual ILT activities is a virtual activity with repeating sessions. During a virtual ILT activity, an instructor works through training material with students, or a speaker/facilitator presents information. When you create a virtual ILT activity, you provide details about the event and then schedule sessions with instructors and times.
  • Conference - Conference activities can be setup to manage multi-day, multi-track events. Individual sessions can be configured against a single track or be plenary (All Tracks). Each session can be configured with specific location and instructor information. Conferences can be configured in multiple ways for rollup and attendance.
  • Virtual Conference - Virtual Conference activities can be setup to manage multi-day. multi-track events. Individual sessions can be configured against a single track or be plenary (All Tracks). Each session can be configured with specific location and instructor information. Virtual Conferences can be configured in multiple ways for rollup and attendance.
  • Fee - Fees in TopClass are set up as one-off payments which can be published in the catalog and used for example as part of a Certification Program.
  • Product - Products are how you can configure and sell items in the catalog which are not specific training events. For example, books or training materials can be setup and cataloged for sale.
  • Bundle - Bundles are a way to easily group activities together and charge one price for multiple activities. A bundle can be made up of any number of online, or blended, or ILT activities and is given its own individual price.
  • Membership - Membership is set up as a fee, which can be published in the catalog and added to you shopping cart.
  • Special Interest Group - Special Interest Groups are set up as a fee, which can be published in the catalog and added to your shopping cart.
  • Donation - Donations are set up as a fee, which can be published in the catalog and added to your shopping cart.
