Using Rubric assessments

A rubric is a type of scoring guide that sets out criteria and standards for different levels of performance and expectations for the assessment. Rubric assessments are utilised to ensure that the assessment and feedback will be reliable, robust, and transparent for both assessors (TopClass instructors) and students.

To enable Rubric settings, do the following:

  1. Go to System Administration > System Settings.
  2. Under Content, change the Show Rubric Assessment Settings to Yes.

  1. Go to Activities and Learning > Content.
  2. Click Questions.
  3. Click Create.
  4. Enter the Title of the question bank.
  5. Check the Rubric checkbox.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Under the Questions tab, click Add Question.
    1. Enter the Question details.
    2. Set the Points to be awarded.
      📘

      Note

For consistency, ensure that the rubric points total matches the test points total.

    3. Check the Mandatory field if the question should appear as "Must be completed" prior to submission.
      📘

      Note

This field can be modified when adding to a test.
