Report Writer FAQs

Review the following frequently asked questions about Report Writer:

  • Do I need a separate license to use Report Writer? iMIS Report Writer is a licensed feature, where you can choose from a Basic or Plus license. Basic includes ExpressView reports, and Plus includes ExpressView, AdvancedReports, and Dashboards. Contact your CPIL or AiSP for more information.
  • How do I access my queries, business objects, and user-defined properties in Report Writer? Add a shortcut to the source in the $/Common/Query Sources folder. See Adding business objects and queries as available sources in Report Writer for details.
  • Can I import my SSRS report into Report Writer? No, SSRS reports must be recreated using Report Writer.
  • Can I add a water mark to a Report Writer report? No, adding a water mark is not available at this time.
  • Can I add custom fonts? Any fonts found in a Word template will show up in the report, even if the chosen font does not exist inside Report Writer itself.
  • Can I email Report Writer reports? Yes. See Attaching a Report Writer report to a communication template.

troubleshooting

Review the following troubleshooting tips:

  • Error message: No qualified data
    • Potential fix: No data qualified error usually indicates that the source being used is not working. Ensure the selected source (query or business object) is properly running outside of the Report Writer area.
    • Potential fix: Check the permissions on the directory where the report is being run and ensure staff are allowed to run the report.
  • Error message: Missing Reporting Service Base Uri
    • Potential fix: Report Writer may not be correctly configured. Enter a support ticket with ASI Hosting.
  • Report is returning too many incorrect rows.
    • Potential fix: Ensure all selected data sources have a proper join. If there are data sources selected that you are not using, remove the data source. From the report, select the gear cog icon, then select Categories. Remove the category if you are not using it.
